This printed general order for the Department of Virginia and the Army of the James, dated April 13, 1865, sets the boundaries for the District of the Peninsula and assigns Brigadier General Benjamin C. Ludlow to the command, adding that “General Ludlow will also assume the supervision of Negro Affairs within his district.”

The order measures about 5” x 8”. Excellent condition with light toning.
