Pictured in this unmounted and uncredited albumen image are three Union Navy warships. On the reverse a pencil inscription reads, "U.S. Gunboat on James River." The vessel on the left appears to be a Seccacus-class side-wheel double-ender gunboat while the two ships at right are two-masted steam sloops. There is some creasing and slight tears along the edges. Measures about 8 3/4" x 6 1/2". Unmounted.
