A CDV view of General Winfield Scott. A veteran of the War of 1812 and the Mexican War, the aged Scott was in command of the small regular army at the beginning of the Civil War. The general is identified at the base of the mount, which also includes photographer Mathew Brady’s trademark. The carte measures about 2 1/2” x 4”. On the verso there are remnants and residue from a previous album mounting.
