$175.00

Item No. 4258473

This CDV features a bust view of a second lieutenant in the Union Army. He wears what appears to be a standard line officer's frock coat with a forage cap atop his head. Inscribed in pencil on the reverse, it reads, "Compliments of / Lieut LeGrand McKown / 81st US Col'd Infantry / Brazos Santiago." HDS lists McKown as being a member of the 95th USCT, which was indeed at Brazos Santiago in 1864. The 81st USCT, which the inscription mentions, was another regiment formed at the same time, and which eventually merged with the 95th. Measures about 2 1/2" 4".
