An excellent stereoview of Union General Daniel Sickles by E. & H. T. Anthony of New York. Sickles, who had his right leg amputated because of the wound he received at Gettysburg, poses with four members of his staff. From left to right: Medal of Honor recipient Major Henry E. Tremain (aide-de-camp); Lieut. Colonel Orson H. Hart (adjutant general); Sickles; Captain Thomas W. G. Fry (commissary officer); and Captain Alexander Moore (aide-de-camp). Swords are visible at the sides of four of the five officers. Sickles’s crutch is also visible to the left of the frame. On the reverse is the Anthony label and a 3-cent revenue stamp. The stereoview measures about 6 3/4” x 3 1/4” and is in excellent condition as shown.
