Sixth Plate Tintype of Young Confederate Soldier Wearing Alabama Commutation Jacket

$0.00

Item No. 9952401

A really nice sixth plate tintype of a young early-war Confederate volunteer dressed in an Alabama commutation jacket. Commutation jackets were privately purchased by the soldiers, with the understanding that the Confederate government would reimburse them at a later date. The photographer applied gold tint to the man's buttons and collar piping, with rouge also applied to his cheeks. The image comes housed in a leather half case.
